In a palm grove on the edge of a pristine rocky cove with a golden-sand beach lies the exclusive and chic hideaway hotel of El Careyes.

El Careyes´ rooms and suites are built in a pueblo-style horseshoe around an immense oasis pool and lush gardens. All are spacious, overlooking pool or ocean, with welcoming terraces and many with private flower-strewn plunge pools. In a spirited blend of Mexican and Mediterranean styles, El Careyes´ smooth white walls contrast with colorful Mexican tile, furnishings and art work.

Careyes is a delight to contemplate nature in this biologically diverse area: observe turtles on their annual return to lay their eggs, or engage in serious bird-watching. For the active crowd, snorkeling, fishing, sailing and kayaking are among the choices, as well as a good match of tennis. A full spa caters to those seeking rejuvenation, and there are many niches from which to lounge and worship the sun.

To watch the sun go down as you enjoy a fine dinner at La Lantana, the El Careyes restaurant, is the perfect ending to the day.

Consider This ...
If you enjoy fishing, this is a great place to be. But even if you are not, you´ll still want to go out on one of the pangas to tour the coastline. The homes built along the cliffs are spectacular, and the only way to see them is by boat or air.

You´ll Especially Love
The small bay, shared with beautiful Playa Rosa with its wonderful restaurant/bar, and a few homes that line the hillsides. It really is unique. Take out the kayaks and explore the area, the water is quite calm, protected by out islands.

You May Want To Know
The whole area of Costa Careyes was developed by the Brignone family. The patriarch, Gian Franco, has built many of the areas most famous homes. But his most recent endeavor is a construction of a huge bowl, "Copa del Sol", this is perched on a cliffside just up the coast. Its huge! And its going to one day be his tomb! You have to check it out!

What´s Fabulous Here
The fantastic meandering pool in front of the beach that allows both couples and families to find their own space.

Who It Would Appeal To
Honeymooners and lovers. Although its great for kids as well. The hotel is very private –a great celebrity hang out– and safe for young children.

Spa Services
Located just off the resort´s private beach lies The Spa at El Careyes, an environment dedicated to relaxation, healing and pampering of the body, mind and soul. Release the stresses of the world and indulge in complete relaxation with one of our signature treatments, performed by skilled therapists within our calming, secluded spa environment.

Golfing
The stunning 18-hole championship-style golf course at El Tamarindo is set amid a 2,040-acre natural reserve, making it one of the most spectacular courses in the world. The fairways are beautifully lined with scores of Mojote and Cuba palms, as well as breathtaking views of the rocky, untouched coastline that meets the crystal blue Pacific.

GUEST COMMENTS

"Thank you for following up. My wife and I sought out El Careyes for several days of rest and peaceful solitude; and the hotel, the staff, and the beauty of Costalegre exceeded our expectations. We enjoyed having the stunning setting and grounds of the hotel, and we found our room to be spacious with a comfortable master bedroom and bed. Everybody was attentive and eager to be sure all of our needs were met. The staff was friendly matched the service found at any four seasons or Aman resort. Partial to the cuisine the area and the bounty of fresh fish, we were pleased the kitchen would cook off menu and prepare our fresh caught fish.... The bar staff was attentive, and we enjoyed fantastic margaritas. The remote and undeveloped coastline was spectacular, and I enjoyed being able to take an easy couple of hours to fish just off the hotel´s coast line and catch mahi mahi... The hundreds of jumping dolphin, added to our fun as well. The drive was long from PV to be sure, but we loved the beauty of the region, and the people in the small towns we past were friendly and helpful... Even though our espanol es muy malo... Fears of influenza are clearly overblown and we can´t wait to go back and explore this remote corner of mexico again."

"We had a wonderful time at El Careyes— thank you! We always felt VERY safe while at the resort. Never once did we feel that we were in danger. The airport was clean and the service staff there was very friendly. Our driver, Raul, was very courteous and drove very safely to and from the Manzinillo airport and the resort. Once in the resort, we never left except to explore Costa Careyes homes and the Blue Crocodile restaurant- the reason we never left the resort was because we had no desire to. Everything we wanted was already there. We loved that aspect of El Careyes, the secluded and intimate feeling we got from the location and the staff. We were sad to leave our new found friends and reflected on notion that the resort staff does such a great job at engaging with each guest. We were lucky enough to have suite 20 which seems to be the postcard picture suite and enjoyed it´s offerings immensely. Having stayed at the Ritz, the Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, I can say that El Careyes is in-line with other high-end offerings. A great delight and would love to do it again. Thanks again, we will surely (and have already) recommended El Careyes to others."

"Absolutely beautiful. Wonderful clear water for swimming in the bay and an exquisite hotel pool. Food was excellent with attentive service. Rooms were very nice- especially the ones we had. Very good welcome desk and service. Very secluded and private experience - A perfect get away from it all experience. I would not hesitate to recommend this facility to discriminating guests who want to get away from the over crowded resort experience. Everyone we met was lovely and there was a magical quality to this beautifully designed and secluded place."

We enjoyed our time at El Careyes a great deal. Our only complaint was that the stay was too short! The service was excellent , the environment beautiful ...
