NEWLY DESIGNATED DOÑA URRACA HOTEL & SPA IN QUERETARO
COMPLEMENTS MEXICO BOUTIQUE HOTELS' COLONIAL LOCATIONS
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico
Mexico Boutique Hotels is pleased to add to
its collection the 24-room
Doña
Urraca Hotel & Spa in the UNESCO world heritage city of
Queretaro,
enhancing its growing selection of colonial locations. MBH director Sylvie Laitre
commented on the hotel's prime location between Mexico City and San Miguel de
Allende, strategically situated to explore the greater heartland area where key
events led to Mexico's independence. The hotel's originality, style, service and
historical significance along with its exceptional location merit Doña
Urraca's designation as a Mexico Boutique Hotel.
Formerly a grand private home built in the 18th century, the building has been
impeccably restored and converted to hotel just three years ago. Embraced by tumbling
vines and ensconcing a grand garden and inviting heated pool, its colonial architecture
is combined with modern and luxurious conveniences. With a complement of staff
that outnumbers its guests, service is a cornerstone. Immediately outside of its
doors, the most attractive points of the city unfold with the majestic
Convento
de la Cruz in one direction and the vibrant
Plaza de Armas central
square just three blocks the other way.
The hotel's casual
El Mural bar is an inviting gathering spot as is its
chic Doña Urraca Restaurant which remains animated from lunch through dinner
with a following of local patrons and savvy visitors. Its wine cellar,
La Cava,
is available for private dinnerssure to prove a memorable moment at Doña
Urraca.
An extension of its luxury amenities, the
Bio Spa has been ingeniously
installed on its rooftop which affords a view of domes and steeples from its Jacuzzi.
With four treatment rooms, a sauna, Jacuzzi , steam room and sun beds, it offers
everything from reflexology to wraps. A fully-equipped gym is also at the guest's
disposal. So committed to incorporating pampering into the guest's visit,
all
rates include one or more spa services.
Special promotional rates exclusively offered by Mexico Boutique Hotels are currently
available through
December 22, 2003. Representing an approximate approximate
25% on all room categories, they include bonus spa services as mentioned above.
For instance, the deluxe suite is offered at 1,381 pesos (approximately US$135)
including a manicure and pedicure for each person, based on double occupancy (regular
rate is approximately US$175). Taxes of 17% are additional.
The growing segment of
business travellers using Queretero as a welcome
alternative to Mexico City for small and mid-size meetings will find the city's
convention centre just a short walk away from the hotel and the hotel itself offers
meeting facilities for up to 60 people. Queretaro is a lucrative location for
the most original of spousal programs or incentive trips.
Just 45 minutes from San Miguel de Allende, renowned as an artists' community,
and one hour from Dolores Hidalgo, known for high quality ceramics, arts and crafts
lovers will be very fulfilled. Guanajuato (two hours) and Morelia (two and a half
hours) are additional destinations to comprise a broader
circuit tour with
equally unique Mexico Boutique Hotels to serve as stopping points. In this region
known as the Bajio, history lovers can acquaint themselves with important sites
of battles, declarations and events that have indelibly marked Mexico's past.
How to get there: Main access to Queretero is via Mexico City and most flight
arrivals permit direct connection to excellent first class busses that leave right
from within the airport terminal between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. or via private
taxi, also easily arranged at the airport. Travel time is approximately two and
a half hours.
As well as the above mentioned
limited-time rates, several packages, circuit
tour itineraries and detailed hotel descriptions can be found at
