BOUTIQUE HOTELS MARKETING AND RESERVATIONS COMPANY UNVEILED IN MEXICO

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico--Hoteles Boutique de Mexico (HBM or Mexico Boutique Hotels), the only hotel marketing and reservations company of its kind in Mexico, becomes available today to travelers and travel industry professionals worldwide via its website MexicoBoutiqueHotels.com.

Hoteles Boutique de Mexico represents a collection of member hotels from coast to coast in Mexico, currently numbering 17, which have been categorized as boutique hotels by virtue of their intimacy, high level of service and outstanding attributes. HBM provides international marketing, promotion and reservations support to these member hotels and enables them to market cost-effectively while being identified in a class of their own. A key component of that support is HBM's on-line reservations service which will begin operating on its website by July 1, 2000. To the customer, HBM brings convenience and peace-of-mind, providing an assured reservations method, eliminating communication costs and guaranteeing a high standard of accommodation.

HBM fills a gap in the market, expanding awareness of and access to this previously unrecognized category of lodging and the vacation experience it represents. HBM founder John Youden, an entrepreneur and publisher of Mexican travel and lifestyle magazines and websites commented, "These lodgings, which exemplify the charm and uniqueness that serve as Mexico's real allure, have been eclipsed by the dominance of all-inclusive resorts and chain hotels which enjoy powerful marketing resources. Our recent introduction of Hoteles Boutique de Mexico at Tianguis [Mexico's leading travel trade forum] reinforced that there is extreme interest on the part of the traveler and travel industry in this emerging lodging option. HBM will be the intermediary or "info-mediary" as we'll deliver the best information on the web and in print, making a convenient and economical connection for consumers worldwide."

HBM director Yvette Vink, who has brought Latin American tourism products to international markets for 20 years, believes the introduction of the boutique hotel concept-already well-accepted in North America-will be equally well received as a new category of lodging in Mexico. Vink also believes the internet to be the perfect marketing vehicle for the concept, stating, "Not only is the web the fastest growing method of travel planning today, it provides important economies from a marketing perspective and to the consumer from a booking standpoint."

Membership is by invitation once a hotel has been identified and qualified by a team of reviewers to feature individual style and character, and to deliver personalized service and excellent cuisine. Hotels usually have fewer than 50 rooms and must additionally possess one or more attributes of cultural, historical, recreational or geographic significance. Their individuality, from the grandeur of 19th century Los Juaninos, a former Episcopal palace in Morelia, to the isolation and primitive style of the seven palm-thatched bungalows at Majahuitas near Puerto Vallarta, led HBM to abandon a rating system in favor of a glossary of "key words" which define what experience a traveler could expect to enjoy. A hotel could be categorized by a selection of 15 key words ranging from rustic to luxurious, secluded to central, and detailed to casual.

The website will feature seasonal specials, packages and value-added offers. Reservations are taken exclusively through the internet (MexicoBoutiqueHotels.com), via fax (011-52 (322) 221-2255) and navigation tools are provided to view property profiles and request brochures and additional information.

Hoteles Boutique de Mexico is based in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. Information on becoming a member hotel can be obtained by email at info@mexicoboutiquehotels.com" or via fax at 011 (523) 221- 2255 from the US or Canada.
