ACCLAIMED HOTELITO DESCONOCIDO JOINS MEXICO BOUTIQUE HOTELS COLLECTION

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (May 15, 2006) – Mexico Boutique Hotels – a collection of stylish properties throughout Mexico that create diverse experiences in incredible destinations – today announced the addition of Hotelito Desconocido, a renowned luxury property just 60 miles south of Puerto Vallarta.

Hotelito Desconocido, affectionately called ‘Hotelito’ by those in the know, is the 46th addition to Mexico Boutique Hotels’ growing assortment of properties, each carefully selected for membership by Founder John Youden because of its distinctive individuality and charm.  Mexico Boutique Hotels has added 13 new members so far this year and is now more expansive than ever.

“Hotelito is adored by travelers for taking a very different approach to the concept of luxury, offering a Balinese inspired minimalist feel combined with upscale amenities and the comforts of home,” said Youden.  “This property exemplifies the high standards of service, culture, and destination of all Mexico Boutique Hotels, and we are thrilled to have them on board.”

Nestled on a wetland estuary on the Coast Allegre between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Pacific Ocean, this newest Mexico Boutique Hotels member is located on one of the most famous sea turtle and bird reserves in Mexico.  Just 60 miles South of Puerto Vallarta, 3 miles from Cruz de Loreto and less than two hours from the nearest airport, Hotelito uses only solar energy.  At night, hundreds of candles light the rooms and restaurant while luminaries illuminate pathways that meander throughout the resort. A short rowboat ride across the estuary, the Pacific washes ashore a pristine virgin beach where sea turtles nest from July to January.

Imagine a chic camping experience where luxury linens, seductive gauze mosquito netting, and candlelight make guests truly feel a world away.  Surrounded by the natural sounds of birds and frogs, Hotelito’s unique accommodations are constructed in the style of an old Mexican fishing village. Guestrooms are in 'palafitos', bungalows of indigenous construction, built on stilts over the edge of the estuary surrounding the main group of structures.  Wood floors and palapa roofs compliment each hut’s decorative details with bright, colorful interiors.  Hand painted murals and whimsical antique furnishings are traditional Mexican with a modern flair.

The décor of each palafito has been styled after the Mexican lottery, a type of bingo game that uses images rather than numbers. Bathrooms feature bamboo showers – with water from solar-powered heaters – that provide privacy in a stunning garden backdrop. With no electricity, candles provide illumination at night and solar-powered ceiling fans provide optional in-room cooling.

Hotelito's oceanfront palapa restaurant and bar serves a sumptuous breakfast buffet and elegant dinners. A traditional Mexican kitchen prepares regional specialties with an emphasis on fresh fish and seafood, as well as prime beef and poultry.  Food is prepared with ingredients from the hotel’s organic garden, as well as the daily catch of local fishermen. Lunch is served at Hotelito's Beach club, El Nopalito, an oasis overlooking 40 miles of unspoiled beach.

Guests of Hotelito can float lazily in an ingenious saltwater pool or luxuriate in a primitive spa, which boasts numerous authentic treatments including steam baths, cold water Jacuzzis, aromatherapy massage, reflexology, mud baths and hot stone massages.  For travelers seeking a more active escape, an array of activities are available including horseback riding, mountain biking, hiking, windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, billiards, bird watching, and more. From June to January, guests can participate in the sunset release of baby sea turtles from the nearby protected nesting area.

As with the majority of Mexico Boutique Hotels properties, Hotelito Desconocido provides the ultimate backdrop for group functions including meeting and incentive groups and destination weddings.
