La Quinta Luna - Cholula
simple elegance detailed central
Inaugurated as a hotel in October of 2003, La Quinta Luna has an esteemed location
in the oldest quarter of the oldest living city of the American continent. On
the outskirts of Puebla, just 70 miles east of Mexico City, Cholula is significant
for its pre-hispanic pyramid and its views of active volcano Popocatapetl. Catalogued
as an historic building, the Cárdenas González de Cossío
family rescued this 17th-century mansion in an effort to preserve history and
share it with their guests in its new incarnation. A focal point of the estate
is its library housing a rare collection of 3,000 books. Thick adobe walls and
high, beamed ceilings contrast with contemporary decoration. Set in the former
chapel, La Capilla is quickly garnering accolades for its contemporary and traditional
Mexican fare. This hotel can be combined with one of our htoels in Puebla for
an even more in-depth exploration of this area.
