MEXICO BOUTIQUE HOTELS UNVEILS EXPANDED COLLECTION WITH 12 NEW PROPERTIES AND PRESENCE IN 6 NEW DESTINATIONS

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico – With rich culture, history and style, Mexico lends itself beautifully to the concept of a boutique hotel vacation.  Mexico Boutique Hotels – a collection of unique accommodations that creates an experience unrivaled by large brand destination resorts – today announced the addition of 12 new hotels, as well as offerings in six new cities throughout the Mexican Republic.

The result of careful research and site inspections led by director general John Youden, Mexico Boutique Hotels now boasts a collection of 45 properties, each with its own individuality and charm.  From a hacienda near Oaxaca at the mythical archeological site of Monte Alban to an 18th-century mansion in Puebla surrounded by antique and handcraft markets, this collection of upscale properties is now more expansive than ever before.

“Boutique hotels are favored by travelers for their individuality and personality, and the Mexico Boutique Hotels team works tirelessly to ensure our properties are up to par with what consumers want,” said Youden.  “We aim to select members in destinations that showcase Mexico’s dynamic offerings, while providing upscale boutique accommodations infused with local culture and flavor.”

Mexico Boutique Hotels’ presence now extends into six new destinations, while new member hotels in six other areas of the country enhance the company’s existing bevy of accommodations there.  The new destinations covered by a new Mexico Boutique Hotel member are Playa del Carmen, Campeche, Mineral de Pozos, Valle de Bravo, Monte Gordo and Colima.

The newest hotel additions to Mexico Boutique Hotels’ collection – truly unlike any other hotel offerings found across the country – follow, with a brief summary of each:

Azucar (Veracruz, Monte Gordo): New kid on the block in Veracruz, this quaint, romantic boutique is a nod to the sugar industry that characterizes its destination.   Rich music and dance traditions are a strong influence in this port city location, which is infused with Caribbean flair.

Basico (Playa del Carmen): Ideally located on trendy Quinta Avenida just a block from the beach, this hip hotel is most original with an industrial-chic design.  Built entirely from recycled materials, the hotel features an authentic taco stand restaurant and an upstairs bar.  Don’t miss the front desk’s wide variety of traditional Mexican films - pop one into the DVD player for a relaxing yet cultural night in.

Casa Catrina (Oaxaca): Situated at the center of a historic, colonial town, this artisan boutique hotel is owned by famed Oaxacan artist Maestro Rolando Rojas.  Enjoy being surrounded by unique, contemporary artwork.  You’ll feel inspired.

Condesa DF (Condesa): Decidedly trendy with a cozy, colonial feel, guests will especially enjoy the Turkish steam baths here.  Relax and luxuriate within the hotel’s walls while surrounded outside by the buzz one of the city’s hottest neighborhoods.  iPODs in each guestroom provide personalized entertainment or head upstairs to the weekend cinema and dance club.

Deseo (Playa del Carmen): Location and true VIP treatment in a chic, relaxation haven for upscale minimalists.  Deseo lets travelers unwind in luxurious accommodations, which include an open-air lounge filled with beds and poofs overlooking a trendy pool.  Imagine Miami’s Nikki Beach with guestrooms.  Steps from Playa del Carmen’s enviable street and beach scene.

Habita (Polanco, Mexico City): This is the place to be in Mexico City, where you’ll rub shoulders with Mexican socialites and stars.  Introducing a modern, minimalistic South Beach flavor, Habita boasts a rooftop swimming pool overlooking the trendy Polanco district.  You’ll feel like an A-lister just by walking through the door.  The only hotel on the famed Avenida Presidente Masaryk!

Hacienda de San Antonio (Colima): Sleeping here feels like residing in a historic, exquisite museum.  With views of a nearby volcano and spectacular gardens, this authentic nineteenth-century plantation estate is one of Mexico’s best kept secrets.  Luxurious service combined with top-notch accommodations at the former home of one of Britain’s wealthiest, most well-known financiers.

Hacienda Puerta Campeche (Campeche): At the turn of the Century, haciendas were a poignant part of Mexican culture.  Steps from the historic wall that guarded Campeche, this property is built around fascinating ruins.  The opportunity to step back in time while enjoying modern conveniences.

Hotel Santa Rita (Zacatecas): Looking to the left of this hotel is a stunning cathedral and to the right, the historical downtown area’s famed theater.  A true architectural prize on Calle Hidalgo, Santa Rita perfectly combines historical design with modern accommodations.

La Puertecita (San Miguel de Allende): Walking distance to town but just far enough to completely unwind, this colonial jewel overlooks the city from the prestigious Atascadero residential area.  With a setting of gardens, waterfalls, and flowering trees, La Puertecita is tranquility on the edge of excitement!

Posada de las Minas (Mineral de Pozos): A luxurious retreat amidst mines and ruins at the top of a mountain.  Much of this unique town has been abandoned, which makes it a treasure for its 3,500 residents and travelers.  The area is an understated treat with three boutique hotels, five galleries and more.

Rodavento (Valle de Bravo): Ideal for the adventure traveler or guests seeking a well-rounded luxury boutique hotel experience, set in a 16th Century village with rustic colonial buildings, cobblestone streets and a spectacular lake.  Enjoy top shopping, five-star restaurants, kayaking, biking and more in well-appointed suites overlooking a private lagoon.

Travelers can visit the new Mexico Boutique Hotel properties and destinations either on their own, or by part of the collection’s Circuit Tours program.  These map-your-own, self-guided itineraries lead travelers through Mexico’s rich history while introducing them to various areas of the country, both well-known and off the beaten path.  Mexico Boutique Hotels reservations specialists handle the planning of accommodations, transfers, and other travel needs as part of this offering.
