MEXICO BOUTIQUE HOTELS ON COSTALEGRE NOT AFFECTED BY COLIMA EARTHQUAKE
Paradise remains in tact at Mexico's most unique hotels on the Costalegre
Puerto Vallarta, Mexico-Mexico Boutique Hotels reports that, following last night's
earthquake which had its epicenter in Colima, its hotels at Isla Navidad and on
the Costalegre were unaffected. While damage in Colima took its tool, the tremor
did not cause any damage at Mesón Doña Paz (Isla Navidad), El Tamarindo
(Cihuatlan), El Careyes or Casas de Careyes (Costa Careyes).
The hotels report that Highway #200 which links them all and runs from Barra de
Navidad to Puerto Vallarta was not affected and travel is normal.
Director General Giorgio Brignone of the spectacular Casas de Careyes that stand
out on the Costalegre commented that Colima is located one-and-a-half hours inland
from the nearest destination of Isla Navidad thus the distance substantially reduced
what was felt of the earthquake. Brignone, also noted that the Mexico Boutique
Hotels in this area are all low-rise construction and built to the stringent architectural
codes that came into effect as a result of the 1985 Mexico City earthquake. As
Brignone, an avid polo player, prepares for Chinese New Year's celebrations in
the unlikely spot of Careyes, he theorized that perhaps the Year of the Horse
was giving its last spirited kick of the heels as it comes to a close.
